WIFI experience

Last Saturday, I brought my laptop at school because I thought we’re going to use it for our thesis but Instead we used it for free internet surfing.

CJ asked me if we are able to connect to the internet but during that time I really don’t know that there is a connection in that area. Alvin told me that he couldn’t connect and I asked him if he turned on the wifi but he said he didn’t know where. Anyway, I hurriedly went to the west lab on the 1st floor of mapua building and instantly turn on the wifi. Toshiba has this application called configfree which is really nice and easy to use for searching wireless device. I open it and started searching for wireless device and boom! There are actually 4 wireless devices available. Two Linksys, one coligo and the other is Mapua wifi.

Mapua wifi requires us to have an account for us to be able to connect while LinkSys is an open device and can easily connect through it. Connection is stable and fast. We can even connect to yahoo messenger and all. We really had fun using the free internet.

After that, I went to glorietta to meet up with my friends, Patrick and Masa. We thought of using the laptop and started to find a place where we could stay. Ayala center has a wide range of wireless hotspots. We went to starbucks located glorietta 2 and setup the notebook. GlobeQuest appeared at the configfree application and boom we’re connected. But the only thing that we need is an account. We were not able to use it, its fun though.

Anyway, I might as well try using my laptop at petron mega plaza. Maybe they have a wireless connection there.

Career Transition

Last saturday we had a seminar about career transition. Graduating students were required to attendant the seminar because it could help us before and after we graduate.

First part of the seminar talks about how to write your resume. Well, I guess they should’ve held this last term so students will be prepared. Yes! Mapua has a standard resume and every student should follow the correct format. The reason? I really don’t know, maybe to give an identity or whatever.

And then Azeus gave an overview of their company and why we should consider them in finding our career. Azeuz is specializing in software development and most of their clients are from hongkong. Anyways, I think every student were encouraged to sign up for the exam next week. They are looking for the best software developers and software test engineers. Well, I signed up for the software test engineer and not software developer, lets just say that I’m playing safe. hehe Someone told me that the exam is really hard and that once you’re hired, you’ll miss sleeping. That’s life.

Lastly, we had an overview for our mock interview next week. Yeah, we need to practise for interviews so that when we apply for a job we are ready and we know how to answer questions in a professional way.

Oh yeah, I lost the paper that the speaker signed.

Recently, I noticed that kinja isn’t crawling his website and is not posting new posts and I started wondering what happened to his blog. Just now, I visited jaypeeonline both .com and tk site but both of them are not accessible.

What happened to jaypeeonline? Hmmm.

MW Theme

Finally, after almost a month of looking for a company where we could apply for OJT, I was hired. I started my training last Tuesday. Well, nothing really happened on the first 2 days of my training. I was sitting all day long. But on the third day everything went different, one of the trainer assigned a job for me, testing software. He briefed me and gives some background on the platform that we’ll use.

Anyway, remember my last entry about the reboot? Well, I haven’t finished it yet and don’t know when it’ll be finished because of my training. So I’ve decided to download a wordpress theme, a nice and neat theme that I could use. I found MW wordpress theme from themes.wordpress.net and immediately downloaded it.

I liked this theme because of its ads placement. You can easily paste the ad code. The theme is neat and simple. It has several colors to choose from. I just loved the way it was designed. Ads were a little disordered on IE, though.
